Recipes for the Busy Author

You have a deadline and a family that, for some odd reason, still expects you to feed them on a regular basis.

Okay, breakfast is a no-brainer. "This is a box of cereal. This is a carton of milk. Pour cereal into bowl, add milk. Eat with a spoon."

Lunch: Who has time for lunch?

Dinner. Here we get to the fun stuff. You'll need a crockpot.

Roast beef dinner: 1 roast, 1 can of Coca Cola, 1 envelope of onion soup mix. Put roast in crockpot, sprinkle onion soup mix on roast, pour Coke over it all. Set on low, and let it cook all day long. Turn the roast over around noon. Add pre-chopped veggies 1-2 hours before serving.

Chicken dinner: Boneless, skinless chicken breasts; 2 cans of Healthy Request cream of chicken soup; one envelope of onion soup mix, wine or cooking wine to taste; fresh or canned mushrooms; up to 16 ou of low-fat milk. Mix cream of chicken soup, milk, wine/cooking wine and onion soup mix together. Add chicken (it can even be frozen still). Cook in crock all day on low. Serve over rice.

These are fast, easy, and mostly healthy. ;)

Now, get back to that WIP!

Laura, I am writing a newspaper story about chocolate and wondered if I could ask you some questions. Would you contact me at katy.mclaughlin@wsj.com and let me know how to contact you directly? Thanks.
