Go Ahead...

... Feel yourself up.

"Huh? What the heckadoodle is this crazy woman suggesting?"

I'm suggesting you check your breasts on a regular basis. During my author day chat on my newsie group yesterday, I suggested folks check out my MySpace page, and take a good gander at the big, glittery pink ribbon, and check out the links on how to check your breasts, Paget's Disease, and breast cancer.

EVERY SINGLE PERSON who posted a response had a breast cancer story to share-- either how breast cancer had affected them personally or family members. I have 2 family members-- my mother and a cousin who are breast cancer survivors. My mother's tip off was a lesion that wouldn't heal on her nipple. Her breast cancer was invasive, not lumpy. (Yes, it IS weird to talk about my mother's nipples and breasts, but yanno what? I'm sure she wouldn't mind if it helped just one person.)

So.

Whatchoo waitin' for? Feel yourself up. Have regular mammograms. Take care of you. Take care of your boobs.

Always good advice, Laura. And to make it more appealing to those in relationships, why not teach your husband/boyfriend/significant other to do the check? I mean, why make it a chore? ;-)

As another survivor, I say "hear! hear!:

But as for the signficant other doing the chore--I say don't tell them. They get all freaky. LOL
