Chayla kept her eyes closed. If she opened them, she'd see too much, be overwhelmed by the spirits around her-- sensory overload. Then, everything shifted. She could feel the ground beneath her feet, the warmth of the sun on her face.
"It's okay to open your eyes now."
She did. "Where are we?"
Ben stood beside her, tall, strong and oddly radiant. "Here," he said. "We are here."
Chayla glanced around. Everything in this place was more vibrant, more sharply defined. She recognized every single thing she laid eyes upon, including Ben. Awareness dawned on her, leaving her speechless, a touch alarmed, but in awe of the whole situation.
"Oh, my." She murmured. "I know this place. I know you."
The enormity of it all overwhelmed her.
