A Challenge...

...
So, my CP, Sherry (Shara) Jones, and I both have novellas to write for our publisher, By Grace. She's writing one for the annual spooky anthology, and I'm writing one for the annual Brides anthology.

So far, we have written zip.

Zilch.

Zero.

Nada damn word.

This obviously needs to be rectified, right? Writing the novellas isn't the challenge. Nope. The challenge is that we're going to have a Novella Writing Race.

SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!

This won't be the first time Sherry and I have had a writing race. It seems to be becoming an annual event! We started racing each other a few years ago. It's exhilarating. We have our IM window up and chat at each other off and on while we write, often posting snippets of what we've written to get input and reactions, and in general, just have a splendid ol' time.

The minimum word count for the novellas is 10K. The max is 20K. The goal is to see how far we can get. We're going to try to start tonight, failing that, our start time is tomorrow.

I enjoy writing by way of race because it really seems to light a fire under the Muse, as it were. Gets the blood flowing, the imagination fired and the words on the page. Plus, I must say, it's a real kick in the pants to write with company. Especially company who's doing the same thing you're doing, but still willing, able and ready to brainstorm through the blockages that occur.

Anyone else wanna race?
