Stripped down, ready for refinishing. You can see what was on the legs, as I intended to paint over that. The top was stained a generic wood stain, and had a black line painted to make a frame on the top. Took a lot of elbow grease to eradicate that black line. (And fingernail polish remover).

Legs and underside painted a garnet red. "American Accents" by Rustoleum, highly glossy, and a terrific paint. Bought it right off the shelf at Lowes.

Finished! Notice the doggie in the background. I stained the top with a red mahogany stain, applied a rub on decal (magnolia flowers) and polyurathaned it. It's gorgeous.

Close up of the decal. It's magnolia flowers and strawberries (with a pansy thrown in for color). Covered with polyuratane, it looks painted on. I think this decal "makes" the table. Mr. Laura says the table looks like an antique--high praise indeed. I'm very pleased with the outcome. It actually looks like I envisioned it would.
Next project? Perhaps I'll tackle the pressed wood end tables I have. They really need some help.
