Happy New Year!

Well then. It's cliche to ask where did all the time go, but here we are, not only at the cusp of a New Year, but on the verge of an entirely new decade. The possibilities, as always, are endless. Often, we tend to reflect on the past as we start a New Year, but this first decade of the 21st century, in my humble opinion, should just be left to rest if not in peace, then at least with as much dignity as we can muster. So much sorrow, divisiveness, and hatred (what a horrible word) dogged us this past decade, it would be a welcome relief to just let it all go. Yet, here we are, still involved in the Middle East, sniping at each other here at home over politics, the economy, pointing accusatory fingers everywhere at but ourselves. Who's responsible for the mess the world is in? US---the human beings who inhabit it.

The answer to "why can't we all get along" lies in human-made boundaries, ancient and deep-seated cultural hatreds (that awful word again), geography---but when you get right down to it, prick any human from anywhere on this great planet of ours, and you'll find we all bleed red---regardless of the color of our skin, our nationality, our socio-economic standing, our religious beliefs. Red.

I've been, obviously, contemplating the future, what I'd resolve for the New Year, and have decided that in addition to my own personal resolutions, I'd add my Wish for the World: Tolerance, Understanding, Kindness, Peace, Love.

What's your Wish for the World as we head into 2010?
