Monday Monday

I don't know about you, but I need another weekend to recover from my weekend. The upside is my house is clean and my laundry is one load away from being done. Totally exciting, right? I got the little bitty birdhouses I'm donating to my middle son's fundraising booth at the Ghostwalk this coming weekend DONE. I have so many more projects I need to finish - crafting and writing.

The birdie chateaux:

Oldest son had the best Saturday of his life -his NJROTC softball team won first place in a tournament. The. Greatest. Day. Of. His. Life. EVER.

Middle son has been making paracord bracelets to sell at the fundraising booth next weekend. Yes, most of us here in this house are all sporting bracelets. Here's mine:

Youngest son is probably the only kid we have at the moment, who isn't up to his eyeballs in Other Stuff. His turn will come. Yep.

What else do I know? Well, we've had some gorgeous Autumn days here...cloudy, cool, rainy some. Today is cloudy so far, so I decided this is perfect crock pot chili weather. Nothing fancy, just kidney beans, Hunt's canned (and seasoned) diced tomatoes, tomato sauce, onion and ground beef, with other seasonings.

Now, I must go eat some Frankenberry cereal and finish my read-through of one of my Christmas novellas. Would like to get that done before I start another project - one the Muse is teasing me with right now. Silly Muse.

Final thought for today and I'm away:

Little Mary Sunshine Monday

It's cloudy, cool...Rainy Days and Mondays does come to mind. Plus, that whole Monday thing, the craptastic reputation it's earned...I thought I'd take a closer look at Monday, and find a bit of positive about it.

Monday
The name comes from the Anglo-Saxon monandaeg, "the moon's day". This second day was sacred to the goddess of the moon.
French: lundi; Italian: lunedi. Spanish: lunes. [from Luna, "Moon"]
German: Montag; Dutch: maandag. [both: 'moon-day']

Monday, the second day of the week, is that it's also referred to as "Blue Monday." The name is thought to have started because the first day of the work week used to be set aside for doing the laundry. Bluing was used to keep white clothes from becoming dingy and gray. From that product, wash day became known as "Blue Monday." The term "Blue Monday" still exists, even though it's not necessarily laundry day. However, it's meaning is different. It now refers to the day when employees have to return to work after a weekend break.

Several holidays always fall on a Monday. Some of these include Labor Day, Memorial Day, President's Day, Columbus Day and Veteran's Day.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort. ~Herm Albright, quoted in Reader's Digest, June 1995

Every day may not be good, but there's something good in every day. ~Author Unknown

Attitude is a little thing that makes a big difference. ~Winston Churchill

Happiness is an attitude. We either make ourselves miserable, or happy and strong. The amount of work is the same. ~Francesca Reigler

It isn't our position but our disposition which makes us happy. ~Author Unknown

Random thoughts...an attempt to bring cheer to Monday, to dispel the gloom...

While it seems like there's always more Mondays than any other day of the week, the truth is, there's only 52. 53 depending upon what day of the week the year starts on and leap years.

Monday has something in common with Moon Pies, both being named after the moon.

It comes early in the week.

Monday Monday bo Bunday Banana fanna fo Funday Me My Moe Monday...Monday.

The Monday Blahs are a good excuse to eat chocolate. Chocolate makes people happy, AND it's a veggie, because it comes from the cocoa bean, and everyone with a brain knows that beans are veggies.
