5 Things You Didn't Know About Me

Thanks, Robin. I was wondering what I was going to blog about today. :D

1. I went to Europe with a group of students when I was in high school. It was a month-long summer trip. In Paris, at the Moulin Rouge, we finally found lead crystal glasses (yes, we'd been checking all the glasses)-- I broke mine (slick and graceful) -- and got drunk on the champagne. Each table had a complimentary bottle, and we pooled our $$ to buy another bottle.(Our parents had to sign a permission slip allowing us to have beer, wine and champagne. We weren't allowed to drink just for the heck of it, just on such occasions as being at the Moulin Rouge and the German beer garden--dark beer is dreadful, IMHO. Not a fan of beer anyway.)

2. I didn't learn how to drive a stick-shift until after Mr. Laura proposed. He taught me how to drive his Omni, as that would be our only car. Due to my not-so-great shifting abilities, the timing belt had to be changed twice before the Omni finally died once and for all, 50 yards from our driveway.

3. Plot devices that are an instant turn off for me in reading romances: the heroine is the widow/bereaved girlfriend of the hero's brother. Can we all say "EWWWWWW?" Too incestuous for my liking.

4. I'm not very patient.

5. I get grumpy when I'm not writing.

That's how I learned to drive a stick too--when my ex and I bought our very first new car. It was either learn it or walk. LOL
